Files

The documents your team brings in as context — uploaded once, working everywhere.

What are Files

A File is something you bring into NetworkOS — an upload that becomes part of your Workspace's data, like a capability statement, a partner roster, or a research report someone found externally. Where an Artifact is something NetworkOS produces, a File is something your team brings in as context. A File can become a source behind an Artifact, but a File is never itself an Artifact.

Files are indexed and searchable the moment they're uploaded — part of the same knowledge layer that powers the platform's intelligence, alongside your records and Data Packs.

How Files work

  • Every File is scoped to your Workspace, a Mission, or a specific record — but wherever it's uploaded, it still exists at the Workspace level too. Think of Missions like folders: a File can sit loose at the Workspace level, live inside a Mission, or attach to a record directly — but every File, however it's scoped, is still a Workspace File.
  • Every File can be moved — into a Mission, out of a Mission, or from one Mission to another. Saving isn't a one-way decision.
  • Every File is visible Workspace-wide. Anyone in the Workspace can access it, regardless of where it was uploaded.

Finding your Files

Where to find it: the Files page in the main navigation, a record's detail page, a Mission's own page, or Find / Create (⌘K) for a direct lookup.

  • The main Files page shows every File in your Workspace, regardless of where it was uploaded.
  • A record's or Mission's Files view is scoped — it shows only the Files uploaded there.
  • Find / Create also works as a quick lookup if you know what you're searching for and don't want to browse.

Uploading a File

You can upload a File as specifically as you need — directly to a record, to a Mission, or to the Workspace at large — and everything still rolls up to the Workspace level regardless of where you upload it.

There are a few places to do it:

  • On a record's detail page — attaches the File to that Person, Organization, or Event directly.
  • On a Mission's page — scopes the File to that thread of work.
  • On the Files page — uploads directly to the Workspace, with no record or Mission attached.
  • Find / Create (⌘K) — you choose the destination as part of the upload flow, whether that's the Workspace or a specific Mission.
Synced Files

Uploading isn't the only way in. Connect Google Drive, and files from your synced folders flow into the Workspace automatically and stay current — no manual uploads, no stale copies. Connected files behave like any other File once they're in. Admins can setup their Google Drive to sync to your Workspace, or individual Missions: see Connecting your data: Google Drive in Workspace Settings.

Deleting a File

On a File you can edit, open the action menu and choose delete.

Warning: deleting a File removes it from your Workspace, including anywhere it's referenced, and cannot be undone from the app. You'll be asked to confirm first.
